Based at the Chalet in Suomu our painting holidays of one weeks’ duration cover tuition in the areas of landscape painting in watercolours, oil, pastels etc. The course is appropriate for all ability levels, the groups being small (10 to 13 persons and, if appropriate, accompanying non painting partners). Advanced artistic skills certainly are not necessary for you to enjoy this holiday equally one shouldn’t expect this course to turn you into an expert overnight. Rather it is hoped that you should learn plenty, both from your tutor and fellow participants whilst appreciating the surrounding nature at it’s finest.

Four tours are offered to this outstanding location. Our late May holiday enables you to capture the last remaining signs of spring and the snows of winter on the hills. Our 2 Midnight Sun holidays represent views totally unique to the Arctic Regions with a cornucopia of colours and our Ruska painting holiday is best represented as being similar to the Fall in the USA. In addition Lapland being home to reindeers and huskies there is the opportunity for additional sketching opportunities available to capture these animals in their natural setting.

Students should bring their materials such as watercolour and oil paint as well as pastels, pencils etc with them as the nearest small town of Kemijärvi is located some 40 kilometres from Suomu. Naturally however, easels, tables, cushions and fold up chairs will be provided locally.

Non painting partners will be able to avail of the full range of excursions that are featured within the programme with departures directly from Suomu throughout the week.

The tour cost includes: full board and transfers to the various settings in the Suomu locality. Your accommodation for this holiday is provided in Arctic Circle Hotel, centrally in the Suomu resort. The Arctic circle Hotel provides comfortable rooms with private facilities including power steam- shower. Location is excellent in the centre of this unspoilt village.
